THE MAKER

Made by Piotr.
Here in Briarcliff.

I enjoy giving useful wood a second life, from urban-harvested Texas slabs to reclaimed shelving. Each finished piece carries its own grain and character.

My focus is high-quality, useful woodwork: thoughtful construction, attention to detail and a finish that brings out the character of the wood. From the brass feet and handholds on my cutting boards to the opening wing on an owl bank, the details are part of the piece.

For my cutting boards, I use 100% pure tung oil from WoodRiver, blended with Nature’s Orange food-grade D-limonene (orange oil). The finish is food-safe once fully cured and brings out the natural warmth of the wood. My owl banks are finished with Rubio Monocoat in Pure; my bird feeders use boiled linseed oil. Each finish is chosen for the piece and its purpose.

Deska Studio is my woodworking practice: small pieces, made by hand, to use and enjoy.
